Dr. Tommy Carrington
Rural Ministry Initiative Director
Dr. Tommy Carrington was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. After graduating from high school, he immigrated to the United States where he settled in Miami, and attended Trinity International University (South Florida). Upon graduation, worked with Miami Youth for Christ, serving as a chaplain for the Juvenile Detention Center, and then as an area director, responsible for neighborhood evangelistic programs.
After 12 years with Miami YFC, he saw a great need to assist youth leaders with a model for reaching unchurched young people, and discipling them in their faith. In 2012, he launched Impact 922 Ministries, a ministry designed to equip students and youth leaders with a strategy for evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development.
In 2022, Dr. Carrington joined the Christian Ministries faculty at Taylor University, and currently serves as the Director of the Rural Ministry Initiative. His passion is to partner with churches, ministries, and schools, to encourage, train and equip ministry leaders with the tools they need to be effective wherever God leads them.
Dr. Carrington earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University, a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is currently completing a PhD in Educational Studies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
